In part 2 of our good link building strategies we will look at even more methods of gaining some link love.
Giving out something for free
People love free stuff. And especially if it's high quality, valuable and has no strings attached, then it becomes very special to people. They will share it with others without any prompting from you. In fact, just do a google search after you start giving out people free quality stuff. You'll be amazed at the links coming in.
A perfect example would be a site like Dosh Dosh. Relatively unknown less than two years ago, the owner of Dosh Dosh started giving out fantastic wordpress themes for free. And as a result, not only did he get a lot of good word of mouth buzz, but he also got a lot of link love from all the sites using his themes, boosting his own site up in the search engine result pages.
Just remember: if you give something valuable to people, if you come out as a genuine person who wants to help other people out, then the community will give back to you more than tenfold.
Build a “Top List”
Making a “Top List” about a topic that you're familiar with is another way to build link love. It can be a list of what men are looking for in a woman, a list of cars that you must drive in your life, it can be anything. By providing a "Top List" in your industry, you are proving yourself as an authority and not only that but you also get a lot of link love.
You can also make a Top List of tips and tricks regarding any subject that you are familiar with. For example, you can make a "Best tricks and tips to quiet down a crying baby" or even "Tips and tricks to slay the dragon and win a quest in a popular game."
Create and organize a contest
Creating contests, especially contests with great prizes is an excellent way to spread your brand online. In fact, I dare say, it ranks up there with the best of them. People love contests and most of the times not even for the prize but just to "test their skills" or even just to prove that they are the best. The best part about holding contests is that other sites will also link to you since contests are great content for them and increase their traffic as well.
Non-profit organizations
If you pay attention to a lot of non-profit organization events, you will notice that most of these events are sponsored by big companies.
If you are not a big company yet with millions of dollars to spend on charity organizations, you could build and design websites for them. Even if you do not know how to do so, you can hire a designer to do the job for you. The catch here is that the charity's website will end up having a link to your site. Very powerful indeed.
And if it's a popular charity, the rewards will be amazing, especially when Google finds your link on the charity website and spiders your own site.
The bottom line here is that link building is acquired in many different ways. Don't limit yourself to what's on here. Think outside the box and there's no limit to what you can achieve.
